But Paul's life takes a sudden turn when he's in his car, ready to drive to work, and gets rear-ended. The other driver turns out to be very empathetic (but a bit screwy) Cara (Jessica Ryan), who apologizes, but unfortunately has no car insurance and can't even pay in cash for his damaged back bumper. To top it off, as they discuss the matter out on the highway, she gets a phone call from work -she's just been fired!
This "meet-cute" results in Paul inviting her to his home for a cup of coffee, as he's open to life presenting him with a new direction. What's he got to lose being Mr. Nice Guy to a complete stranger? (Especially an attractive one like Cara.) Soon their conversation turns serious, as Tommy takes the opportunity to pour his heart out about how broken he feels now that his marriage of 15 years is crumbling.
As Paul makes clear his heartbreak, Cara is strangely drawn to him, and literally gives him a shoulder to cry on. Later, as she communicates her own personal story, the bond between them grows. As they shake hands to part, Paul makes a novel offer: could she become his personal assistant, with free room and board to live at his place? Another hearty handshake seals the deal.
SPOILER ALERT: One morning after having moved into his home, Cara goes to Paul's bedroom while he's fast asleep and answers his cell phone, telling Mary that he's through with her and to stop calling him. She lies on his bed next to her sleeping boss, and still half asleep, Paul rolls over and caresses her, momentarily mistaking her for his wife!
He's shocked to see it's Cara, not Mary when he wakes up. He's still far from over his longing for Mary, but Cara succeeds in breaking through his natural defenses. When Paul orders her to leave his bed, Cara tussles playfully, "resisting", and the physical contact is disarming, but when she tries to kiss him, he rejects her, declaring: "I feel like I'm cheating on her". Cara is quite convincing in trying to get him to start over, but he draws the line: "I can't have you in the bed, though -it's Mary's bed". When she does kiss him, Paul can't resist.
Cara pulls off his pants and gives Paul a long and deep blow job. She removes her top, and he eagerly buries his head in her big breasts.
