Her heart raced at the feathery caress of his thumb across her hand. He was looking at her, but it felt like more than that for Charlie. It was like he was really seeing her. And after years in a marriage like hers, the adrenaline rush of his attentive presence and physical warmth was enough to fill her with the most unimaginable guilt.
