After lovemaking, Rachel opens her laptop to get back to her beloved writing, when Mike abruptly closes it. He makes it clear to her: "Now you're mine". They kiss in their comfortable kitchen, but Rachel is still conflicted. There was a reason she strayed. Does he love Mike? Maybe he truly loves her? Can Mike be 'fixed?" It is the right thing to stay with George, her husband, but is he right for her? She packs her bag to stay with her best friend, her neighbor Lisa (Rachael Cavalli), who has extended an open invitation. George has a decidedly unusual proposal for Rachel. The perfect way to remedy her conflict. He wants their marriage to resume, and that she enjoy her independence to study and fulfill her own career, but he encourages her to keep seeing other men! It's lust that is the problem, not love.
Rachel is shocked that he feels that way, but George reveals that he is impressed by her need for freedom and is turned on by the fact that she will ultimately stay with him after trying out other guys! He even wants her to report back what she did with her lovers in the future. Not a conventional marriage at all, but one to accommodate both spouses' needs.
